Youth Consultation in Preparation of Consett Area Neighbourhood Plan (Age 13-24)
The Consett Academy Employability Programme is delivered by Building Self-Belief and sponsored by Newcastle Building Society. The premise of the programme is to develop the employability skills of the students by working on their CV, their Linked In profile, marketing and social media in the workplace. As part of this programme the students will be visiting the Newcastle Building Society Head office for mock interviews. Newcastle Building Society's latest campaign is to keep their services on the high street, and we decided that this would tie in nicely with the youth consultation about how we should develop the Consett Area, including the high street, through the creation of a Consett Area Neighbourhood Plan.
Young People Have Your Say
A group of Year 12 students from Consett Academy are leading our Youth Consultation to the Consett Area Neighbourhood Forum prepare the Consett Area Neighbourhood Plan. Their aim is to engage the young people of the Consett Area, to get their input about how we can develop and improve our area.
Tell us how you would like the Consett Area to look by 2036. What can we all do to improve on what we already have? What ideas do you have to ensure the continued and positive growth of the Consett Area?
Your Area, Your Future, Have Your Say
If your age is between 13 and 24, please take the time to complete our questionnaire. The young people are the future of our area, and we feel that it is essential that you have an input in how you want the area to improve and develop.
Deadline for completion- Wednesday June 4th 2024
Presentation
The final element of the programme is where the students present on both how they have developed as individuals through their involvement in the programme, and they will also present the outcomes of the consultation to an invited audience. The headline outcomes of the consultation will then lead into the creation of our very own Youth Manifesto.
A New Youth Manifesto for the Consett Area
As well as helping the area develop a Neighbourhood Plan, the feedback from the consultation will also inform our Youth Manifesto for 2024-5 - and potentially for many years to come! One of the students said. ;It feels really special to be asked, as young people we always seem to be forgotten, but this gives us a real opportunity to develop our area.'
