About Holly
Holly was educated in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire, at Bowland High School before going on to complete her A Levels at Clitheroe Royal Grammar School’s Sixth Form. Alongside her studies, she also worked as an Assistant Teacher at Ribble Valley Dance where she experienced first-hand the direct impact self-esteem had on the children’s ability to perform.
This experience ignited her desire to work with children and young people and was supported by her interest in the mental and physical wellbeing of others. Subsequently leading her to study a degree in Psychology with Sport and Exercise Science, at Newcastle University.
Holly’s studies have given her an in-depth understanding of self-esteem and self-belief from a scientific and clinical viewpoint. Her placement year at Building Self-Belief CIO now provides an excellent opportunity to be involved in the charity sector and further broaden her experience.
Holly had a fabulous work placement year with Building Self-Belief where she was fully involved in the enhancement of self-belief in children and young people. It was particularly interesting for her to be able to put the knowledge gleaned through her studies into practice. She is looking forward to continuing her work with Building Self-Belief in her final year of study, in particular, the completion of research papers about the link between deprivation and memory, conducted with the University of Newcastle and the University of Bristol. Holly will remain as a valued member of the team.
